Founded in 1989, the band came up at the dawn of a new era. That didn't matter much to them, as they created a new sound anyway. It was heavy and melodic, New York hardcore mosh parts with operatic vocals over top. They were signed by Roadrunner and released their debut LP River Runs Red in 1993. LOA followed that up quickly with their sophomore album, Ugly, in 1995. Ugly was the band's first album
